The Ascension

"The Ascension" begins after an electoral process in which a far-right populist political force is elected to govern a country.

It imagines the rise of authoritarianism and illiberalism in a state in democratic recession. It encourages the imagination of alternative scenarios where democracy is collectively strengthened, human dignity is unassailable and (mis)information is critically processed.

The voice is enriched by an exclusive composition, supported by organic instruments which, through a diversity of melodic textures, give depth and life to the narrative.

The public premiere of this story is scheduled for November 2024, as part of the programme for the 12th World Democracy Forum, Strasbourg, France.

Facilitation and Narrative: Sérgio Xavier
